Why This Chapel, Why This Road
Alice, Texas sits at the crossroads of US 281 and Highway 44, about 45 miles west of Corpus Christi. It is the county seat of Jim Wells County and the hub city of South Texas. People here have made their living from ranching, oil, and the trades for generations. They raise families, watch out for their neighbors, and fill the stands on Friday nights when the Coyotes take the field.
Stadium Road is one of those streets that everyone in town knows. You drive it to get to the game, to cut across town, to run errands on the weekend. The stadium at the end of the road is where Alice comes together. It has been that way for decades.
Stadium Road Chapel is being built on 1.18 acres directly across from that stadium, at 150 Stadium Dr, Alice, TX 78332. The idea is straightforward: build a chapel on a road this town already knows, in a spot that already feels like common ground.
What We Believe In
Stadium Road Chapel is non-denominational. That means exactly what it sounds like. No denomination, no membership tests, no barriers at the door. If you grew up going to church every Sunday, you are welcome. If you have not stepped inside one in twenty years, you are welcome too.
This chapel is also independent. It is not part of a denomination, not affiliated with a network, and not overseen by any parent organization. The decisions about this chapel are made right here in Alice, by the people who are building it.
Telling the Story of Alice
Like a lot of small towns across Texas, Alice has seen changes. Young people move to bigger cities. Businesses close. The things that hold a community together can start to thin out over time.
A chapel is not going to fix all of that. But it can be one more gathering point, one more anchor, one more reason to feel like this town is being invested in rather than passed over. That matters here. People in Alice know the difference between someone who shows up and someone who talks.
The landscape around Alice is flat brush country. Mesquite and huisache stretch out in every direction under a sky that goes on forever. It is honest country. The people who live here reflect that.
Where Things Stand
The land has been acquired. That is the first real milestone, and it is done. The 1.18-acre site on Stadium Road is secured and belongs to Stadium Road Chapel.
There is no building yet, and we do not have a construction start date to announce. What we do have is a plan, a place to build, and people who believe this town is worth investing in.
